Sagamihara International Lounge offers Japanese language classes where foreign citizens can learn Japanese and non-Japanese can enjoy the services of interpretation, translation and consultation. Events of the LOUNGE for Feburary and March, 2019

Tea Party Forum for international exchange (organized by Tea Party Group)

Date & Time : February 17th (Sun) 10 a.m. - noon
Venue : Seminar Room 1 at Soleil Sagami (on the 6th floor of AEON Hashimoto)

Lifestyles and cultures of Canada will be introduced, and then, we'll exchange ideas with the introducer from Canada while drinking tea and eating cookie. We’re doing this event to deepen Japanese understanding of Canada, and to help make a society which is comfortable for all of us. We are also planning to held a trial session for Sagamihara City's project, SAGA-PRO, because it was decided that Canadian rowing team will held a pre-games training camp in Sagamihara, in preparation for TOKYO 2020 Olympic and Paralympic games.
Maximum number of people: 70
Participation fee: 100 yen (Free for junior high school students and below.)

Training Workshop for Disaster Prevension with Foreign Residents (organized by Disaster Prevension Group)

Date & Time : February 17th (Sun) 10 a.m. - noon
Venue : conference room B on the 2nd floor of Promity Fuchinobe building (Sagamihara International Lounge)

This is a training workshop which is held by foreign residents and volunteers who support this workshop. The way of emergency medical treatment such as using AED, will be introduced. You can also learn about the shelter which will be used in case of a disaster.
Any foreign residents who live in Sagamihara city, or poeple who are interested in supporting foreign residents can join.

A volunteer training course will be held in the year 2019. There will be a pre-event before the training course to "discuss development of human resources for multicultural coexistence". This event is for everyone who will be taking part in the Lounge, (staff members, members of registered volunteer groups and members of registered groups.) The purpose of this pre-event is to get to know each other, and learn the details of the activities that will be done by members of the lounge and all related volunteer groups.

"SAGA-PRO 2020" Canadian Lecture "Neil and Canadian English Class" (organized by Sagamihara City Internationalization Comittee)

An outline of Canadian English pronunciation, vocabulary, expressions and history, will be given. Polite English phrases, useful for communicating with Foreign visitors to Japan, will be taught, too. The lecture will kindly be given by the university lecturer, Neil Walker.
Anyone who lives, works, goes to high school or is in higher education, such as collage or university, in Sagamihara city, may join.

The society of practicing and training for Interpretation "Healthcare" (organized by Interpretation and Translation Group)

We will learn about how to interpret in the field of healthcare. You can learn the technique of interpreting through doing a role-play according to the situation.
This event is for people who resister as LOUNGE's interpretation and translation volunteer, or people who are interested in volunteering in the field of healthcare.

Lifestyles and cultures of Micronesia will be introduced by a person from Mecronesia and a Japanese whose work is concerned with Micronesia, and then, we'll exchange ideas with the introducer while drinking tea and eating sweets. We’re doing this event to deepen Japanese understanding of Micronesia, and to help make a society which is comfortable for all of us.
