Events of the LOUNGE for May and June, 2019

Wakaba Matsuri (the Young Festival) in Sagamihara City

Date & Time : May 11th (Sat) 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and May 12th (Sun) 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Venue : In front of the City Hall

Members of Sagamihara International Lounge will set up a food stall, and also join the parade at the Wakaba Matsuri, the Young Leaf Festival. For those interested, details of the Lounge’s activity will be displayed at the stall throughout the festival. We’re looking for volunteers to help work at the stall, which will sell, amongst other things, cotton candy and mizuame (a kind of a syrup). We are also looking for foreign residents who wish to join us in the parade.

Tea Party Forum for international exchange “China” (organized by Tea Party Group)

Date & Time : May 19th (Sun) 10:00 a.m. - noon
Venue : Learning and training room on the 4th floor of Shiroyama Community Center

The Focus of the forum will be concerning Beijing, the lifestyles of the Chinese people, Chinese entertainment and the Chinese schooling system. These will all be introduced by a local resident who came from Beijing, China. Also, a Japanese person who went to China to study will talk about their experiences in China.
Maximum number of people: 40
Participation fee: 100 yen (Free for junior high school students and below.)
Anyone who is interested in it can join.

Disaster Prevention & Bus Tour (Disaster Prevention Group)

Date & Time : June 2nd (Sun) *Please check the leaflet if you wish to know about the meeting place and time.
Venue : Kanagawa Prefecture Disaster Prevention Center, Miyagase Dam and Aikawa Park

Have you ever wondered what it's like to experience the tremors of an earthquake, the high winds of a typhoon or the smoke caused by a fire? At the Kanagawa Prefecture Disaster Prevention Center, we want to let people experience these situations in a safe environment, to learn of the dangers of these situations and to teach people how to react to improve their safety, should they ever experience such things in real life. There will also be a bus tour, where we will be able to take a stroll around Miyagase Dam and Aikawa Park.
Anyone who is a non-Japanese resident living in Sagamihara city and their families and non-Japanese resident friends can join. People who help support the lives of foreign residents in Japan, are also welcome.
Please wear appropriate clothing, taking into account the tremors and high winds. Please also remember to bring lunch and rain wear.
Maximum number of people: 40 (First-come-first-served basis. Although, we give priority to people who haven't participated yet.)

The 1st Volunteer Training Forum for Multicultural Coexistence (Volunteer Training Lecture Committee)

This is the first event that will introduce the Lounge’s multicultural coexistence volunteer activities. Won’t you join us for the activities? Anyone who is interested in supporting foreign residents, cross-cultural understanding or exchange activities and has thought: “Is there anything I can do?”, would be welcome. Lifestyles and cultures of India will be introduced by a married couple from India, and then, we'll exchange ideas with the introducer while drinking tea and eating sweets. We’re doing this event to deepen Japanese understanding of France, and to help make a society which is comfortable for all of us.

International Cooking Class (organized by the International Understanding Group)

Let's learn food culture of Spain and Korea through making and eating their foods together.
Anyone who are junior high school and above, and also, who live, goes to school or work in Sagamihara city would be welcome.
